Welcome
I am honored to represent you, the citizens of Montgomery County, Texas, as your District Attorney since 1997. These past ten years have been the most challenging and rewarding times of my life, and I am dedicated to serving you for the next four years if you see fit to allow me to do so. My duty is to ensure that this Office, first and foremost, seeks to see that justice is done in each and every case, not merely to convict everyone who comes into the criminal justice system. Oftentimes this duty is complex and perplexing, not only to those charged with criminal conduct, but also to those who have suffered as victims of such conduct. I believe that having practiced all aspects of criminal law in Montgomery County since 1977, first as a defense attorney for 20 years, and then as District Attorney for 3 elected terms, uniquely qualifies me for your support of my re-election. I am completely aware of every facet of life in our County and my "open door" policy of meeting with anyone who wants to discuss problems they are facing allows me to make the tough decisions of criminal prosecution with a fair and honest approach.

When I first took office on January 1, 1997, the District Attorney's Office prosecuted only felony cases (those punishable by incarceration in the State penitentiary) and we had a staff of only 35 people. In 2001, we expanded to prosecuting both felony and misdemeanor offenses, including the Justice of the Peace courts, and we grew to 50 people. At the present time, we employ 76 dedicated and hard-working individuals whose singular goal is to give you a District Attorney's Office you can trust and believe in.
